If you looking to avoid the restaurant crowds on Valentine’s Day, why not enjoy dinner and a movie at home with that special someone?
Need some ideas? Here are my 5 favorite picks for the best Valentine’s Day movies for a fun, relaxing and romantic night at home.
When Harry Met Sally
What I really like about When Harry Met Sally is that it’s a movie both my husband and I like. Plus, this is what Meg used to look like prior to all that unnecessary plastic surgery.
Love Story was huge hit back in 1970 and should be on everyone’s list to watch at least once. It’s best known for the quote “Love means never having to say you’re sorry”. The script, music and great scenery make this modern day Romeo and Juliet story a winner.
Love with the Proper Stranger
I saw this movie years ago and still love it! Love with a Proper Stranger has some pretty controversial themes for the time – single girl gets pregnant from a one-night stand and then decides to have an abortion. Ok, I won’t give away the movie! 🙂 Compelling storyline and awesome onscreen chemistry between Natalie Wood and Steve McQueen make this a must-see for Valentine’s Day!
Somewhere in Time
This uber romantic film definitely has stood the test of time. Somewhere in Time is about a playwright (Christopher Reeve) who goes back in time to search for one true love. It wasn’t a big box office hit when it hit theaters in 1980, but now has such a huge fan base built over the years from being on cable. Wonderful musical score, fascinating story, and of course Christopher Reeve!
The Wedding Singer
If you not quite into the uber serious romantic films and want something a little more light and fun, then The Wedding Singer is for you. Set in the 80’s, Adam Sandler plays a wedding singer who is left at the altar. He then meets Julia (Drew Barrymore), a waitress and immediately falls in love. The movie is about him trying to win over her love. This will be flashback for those of us who grew up in the 80’s – the music, clothes, and of course, the hair!
